The Penfield Central School District recently announced the appointment of Dr. Leslie Maloney as Principal of Penfield High School, effective immediately. Dr. Maloney has served as Acting Principal since last August and replaces Dr. Thomas Putnam, who was named Superintendent of the district in April. Dr. Maloney has worked for the district for the past nine years, most recently serving as the Director of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), prior to taking over as Acting Principal.

“As Acting Principal and previously as Director of STEM, Dr. Maloney has proven herself as a thoughtful, proactive leader,” Superintendent Putnam said. “She is intelligent, compassionate, and truly cares about the students, staff and families at PHS. We are fortunate to have her leading our high performing high school,” he added.

Dr. Maloney holds her doctorate of education in teaching and curriculum from the University of Rochester, a master’s degree in educational administration and supervision from Niagara University, a master’s degree in education from Nazareth College, and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Niagara University.

“I have truly enjoyed getting to know the students, staff and families at PHS this year and I’m honored to continue on as principal,” Dr. Maloney said. “I look forward to the challenges ahead and to building on the successes and strengths of our outstanding program,” she added.
