Summerville Presbyterian Church, 4845 St. Paul Blvd., will hold a drive-thru live Nativity from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 19.
For the event, vehicles enter the Summerville Presbyterian Church parking lot, where they will be guided by luminaries past seven scenes depicting the Christmas story. Scenes will have live actors dressed in costumes in front of scenery with live animals and include Mary and Joseph traveling to Bethlehem, shepherds watching their sheep in the fields, the Magi and the manger scene. Holiday music and lighting will enhance the story.
Volunteers from Summerville Presbyterian currently are working to build sets, sew costumes and design lighting and sound. Over 60 actors will be involved. This is a story of a church community coming together to bring Irondequoit and surrounding communities the story of Christmas.
"It's very exciting to see the whole church come together to make this happen," said Debbie Carter, live Nativity planning team. “It's a gift to the community to enjoy the true meaning of Christmas.”
