The Fairport Central School District will honor four new members at its Education Wall of Distinction Induction Ceremony at 7 p.m. Nov. 16 at Fairport High School, room 512, 1 Dave Paddock Way. The community is invited to attend and a reception will follow the ceremony.
Dave Dunn has served as the Martha Brown Middle School principal for 22 years and previously taught mathematics for 18 years. He interacts daily with students, staff and parents at the bus loop, in the hallways or in the cafeterias. He also holds a monthly principal’s forum offering parents an opportunity to discuss topics pertaining to middle school students.
Robert Longhouse has over 30 years of experience teaching physical education at Fairport middle and high schools. He also served as an athletic coach for girls’ soccer and softball and boys’ basketball. Longhouse is retired from teaching, but continues to contribute to student athletes in his role as girls’ soccer coach.
Linda Northrup has held a career in food service in Fairport since 1988 and is known as Lunch Lady Linda. She began her career as a food service helper at Brooks Hill. Northrup previously held the titles of Fairport High School baker, and assistant cook manager at Jefferson Avenue and Fairport High School. She was named cook manager at Jefferson Avenue in 2003. Northrup has received recognition and many awards for her service to Fairport, and is known for her decorated kitchen and themed months.
Mark Trawitz has taught at Martha Brown and Johanna Perrin middle schools. He is currently an English teacher at Johanna Perrin, and serves on many committees in an effort to improve student learning in Fairport. He has also served as lead English teacher and has volunteered for and organized events with an understanding of what matters to students.
