The Greater Rochester Chapter of the American Red Cross will host its Fire & Ice Gala at 5:30 p.m. March 4 at the Wintergarden at Legacy Tower, 1 Bausch & Lomb Place, Rochester.
Proceeds will support the Red Cross mission of helping prevent, prepare for and respond to disaster in Livingston, Monroe and Ontario counties.
Fire & Ice is a business casual, red-and-white-themed event featuring two hours of open cocktails, dinner, a silent auction and live music from Rochester’s That Party Band. A live auction will include items such as a seven-night stay at Villa Aves del Paraiso in Mexico.
The Red Cross will present three awards during the gala to local individuals and businesses that have made a difference in the Greater Rochester community.
Mary Lou Stoltz, of Fairport, will receive the Samuel J. Stabins Blood Services Award. Stoltz has donated 24 gallons of blood during 197 donations in the past 10 years, helping save as many as 576 lives.
WROC-TV will receive the George Eastman Community Partnership Award for helping to raise almost $500,000 through telethons and other promotions to provide financial support for national disaster relief operations over the past six years.
Teresa Johnson from Town & Country Travel Inc. will receive the Jane Fairchild Freund Volunteer Leadership Award. Johnson has held volunteer leadership positions during nine years as a member of the Greater Rochester Chapter board of directors.
