Vincent comes from University of Texas at Austin as vice president for Diversity and Community Engagement, W. K. Kellogg Professor of Community College Leadership and Professor of Law.
Hobart and William Smith Colleges announced its new president is Gregory Vincent. A national expert on civil rights, social justice and campus culture, Vincent is currently University of Texas at Austin vice president for Diversity and Community Engagement, W. K. Kellogg Professor of Community College Leadership and Professor of Law.
Vincent, a member of the HWS class of 1983, is the first alumnus in the Colleges’ history to serve as its president.
Thomas S. Bozzuto, chair of the HWS Board of Trustees, announced late Thursday afternoon the Board had unanimously voted to approve the Presidential Search Committee’s recommendation. Vincent will be the 27th president of Hobart College and the 16th of William Smith College.
Vincent replaces Mark D. Gearan, the longest serving president in the history of Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Gearan announced last summer he would conclude his duties as president at the end of the 2016-17 academic year.
