Geva Theatre Center, 75 Woodbury Blvd., Rochester, will host a free showcase at 1 p.m. Aug. 12 featuring 30 students ages 12-18 who participated in its Summer Academy.
Auditions for Geva’s Summer Academy were held in March for students of all experience levels. This year’s focus was musical theater. Selected students took classes in acting, movement and dance expansions, monologues, voice and diction, song prep and rehearsal and production while participating in weekly master classes led by industry professionals.
The showcase will features scenes and songs from “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “Anastasia the Musical,” “Little Women the Musical,” “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Waitress the Musical,” “A Chorus Line,” “Little Shop of Horrors,” “Pippin,” “Crazy for You,” “The Wiz,” “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown,” “Into the Woods,” “City of Angels,” “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical,” “Shrek the Musical”and “Dear Evan Hansen.”
