“We have an incredible season planned with drama, romance, passion and power as central themes presented in many different forms throughout the year,” said Ward Stare, music director. “As always, audiences will experience music they know and love while hearing many new sounds along the way. There truly is something for everyone in our dynamic season ahead.”
A limited number of tickets are available for the concert featuring violinist Itzhak Perlman that opens RPO’s 95th season at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 12 in Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre, 26 Gibbs St., Rochester. Additional planned special concerts include “rePlay: Symphony of Heroes” at 8 p.m. Oct. 26; Audra McDonald at 8 p.m. Jan. 25, 2018; “A Night of Symphonic Rock” at 8 p.m. April 28, 2018; and “Michael Grandinetti — Illusionist” at 8 p.m. May 11, 2018.
The season will continue with “Grieg’s Piano Concerto and Cinderella” at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 21 and 8 p.m. Sept. 23 and “A cELLAbration: The Music of Ella and More” at 8 p.m. Sept. 15-16.
Ticket buyers should be prepared to buy as soon as possible for the best seats. Subscription sales for the 2017-18 season are within 90 percent of revenue goals, with revenues 2 percent ahead of the 2016-17 season.

The 2017-18 Philharmonics Series will feature “Ravel’s Bolero” on Oct. 5 and 7; “Seaman Conducts Mozart and Sibelius” on Oct. 19 and 21; Beethoven Mini-fest with “Olga Kern Plays Beethoven’s ‘Emperor’” on Nov. 9 and 11 and “Beethoven’s Ninth” on Nov. 16 and 18; “Vivaldi’s Four Seasons” on Dec. 14 and 16; “Night on Bald Mountain” on Jan. 18 and 20, 2018; “Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake” on Feb. 8 and 10, 2018; “Bernstein Centennial Celebration” on March 1 and 3, 2018; “Mahler 4”: on March 8 and 10, 2018; “Tchaikovsky 5 and World Premiere” on March 22 and 24, 2018; “The Planets: An HD Odyssey” on April 19 and 21, 2018; “Brahms 2 and World Premiere” on May 10 and 12, 2018; and “Philharmonics Season Finale: Carmen in Concert” on May 24 and 26, 2018.
The 2017-18 Pops Series will feature “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in Concert” on Nov. 3-4; “Gala Holiday Pops” on Dec. 21-13; “E.T. the Extra-terrestrial in Concert” on Jan. 12-13, 2018; “Broadway’s Ashley Brown” on Feb. 2-3, 2018; “Latin Heat with the Mambo Kings” on Feb. 23-24, 2018; “Celtic Celebration with Cathie Ryan” on March 16-17, 2018; “Breaking Boundaries with Push Physical Theatre” on April 13-14, 2018; and “Classical Mystery Tour: 50th Anniversary of the White Album” on June 1-2, 2018.
