The Society for Chamber Music in Rochester recently announced its lineup for 2017-18.
Juliana Athayde and Erik Behr will lead SCMR’s 41st season in their fifth year as artistic directors. Each concert will present combinations of musicians from Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and Eastman School of Music.
“Our 41st season reflects the evolution of our series by enhancing the listening experience through exciting venues and finding a compelling balance of masterpieces and intriguing new works,” Athayde and Behr said. “Concerts will be held at the Lyric Theatre, CityView Ballroom at the Strathallan and Hochstein Performance Hall.”
The season will start with “Mozart and Part in Harmonie” at 4 p.m. Sept. 17 at Lyric Theatre, 440 East Ave., Rochester.
“Strings at the Strath” will feature works by Johannes Brahms and Jonah Murphy, SCMR Composition Competition winner, at 4 p.m. Oct. 15 at CityView Ballroom at the Strathallan, 550 East Ave., Rochester.
“A Couple of Couples” will feature Phillip Ying, Keiko Ying, Robin Scott and Ahrim Kim at 4 p.m. March 11, 2018, at Hochstein Performance Hall, 50 N. Plymouth Ave., Rochester.
SCMR’s annual baroque concert, “Baroque and Blues,” is set for 4 p.m. April 29, 2018, at Hochstein Performance Hall, 50 N. Plymouth Ave., Rochester.
“Wunderhorn!” will end the season with W. Peter Kurau, Athayde and Behr at 7:30 p.m. May 18, 2018, at Hochstein Performance Hall, 50 N. Plymouth Ave., Rochester.
Series subscriptions cost $150 for the five concerts. Flex Packs cost $100 for three ticket coupons to be used at any concert, and single tickets are $35 each.
Students are admitted free to concerts at Lyric, Hochstein and, if space is available, at Strathallan with current school ID.
