Penfield-Perinton Kiwanis Club is celebrating 55 years of service to the community this year after it was established Sept. 12, 1962.
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteer members dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. Each club achieves what one person cannot accomplish alone. Along the way, club members share fun, fellowship and a passion for service.
The Penfield-Perinton club sponsors local service leadership programs, such as K-Kids for elementary-aged students and Key Club for high school and secondary-aged students to teach the values of volunteerism.
The club is a key contributor to the Golisano Children’s Hospital, Penfield Kids Fest, East Rochester Community Center, school supply collections and the local winter clothing drive.
The club will celebrate with a family-oriented picnic for its members and members of other local Kiwanis clubs. The club meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. The club is currently recruiting for new members who are interested in giving back to their community.
