Premier Theatre Productions and Rochester Association of Performing Arts recently announced its four major Main Stage productions for the 2017-18 season at Kodak Center, 200 W. Ridge Road, Rochester.
“Annie: The Musical” will run Nov. 18-26 with a book by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin based on “Little Orphan Annie.” The musical will follow Annie after she escapes from Miss Hannigan’s Orphanage to New York City, where she will find a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell and a mutt named Sandy.
Lea Mancarella, 12, of Pittsford, will perform the title role of Annie. Sara Reynolds will return to her childhood after playing the title role of Annie on the national tour in the 1980s, this time as Miss Hannigan.
“Two Tickets to Paradise: The Eddie Money Musical” will run Feb. 14-18, 2018, with a book by Eddie Money. Money will lead a cast of 20 professional actors in the world premiere of his original musical before hitting the road on tour.
“Damn Yankees” will run March 10-18, 2018. Based on the novel “The Year the Yankees Lost the Pennant” by Douglass Wallop, the performance will feature a book by Wallop and George Abbott as well as music and lyrics by Jerry Ross and Richard Adler.
The musical comedy will follow middle-aged baseball fanatic Joe Boyd after he agrees to run the bases with the devil so his favorite team, the Washington Senators, have the chance to win the pennant against the New York Yankees.
“Oliver!” will end the season April 21-29, 2018, with book, lyrics and music by Lionel Bart. The musical will tell Charles Dickens’ tale of a poor orphan and his associates scrambling to survive in London. Oliver seems to find acceptance among a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by Fagin, but his chances of discovering a true family is threatened when he gets captured.
Subscriptions for all four shows cost $210. Single tickets start at $29.50. Discounts are available for seniors, students and ages 12 and younger. The box office is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
