Penfield Public Library, 1985 Baird Road, will host the following programs.
Adult programs
Used Book Sale: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 14, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 15 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 16. Shop for over 85,000 books and other items. Items will be half-price Sept. 15, and Sept. 16 will feature a $3 per bag special. Books range from 50 cents to $1. Cash, checks and credit accepted. Do not bring baby strollers, food or beverages.
Field Trip to Seneca Falls: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 15. Explore the history of the women’s rights movement. Fee does not include lunch or museum admission. Registration is required through Penfield Recreation Department. $12.
NY Humanities Public Scholar Event: 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 16. Susan Goodier and Karen Pastorello will present “Votes for Women: Examining the Woman Suffrage and Anti-suffrage Movements Through Political Cartoons.” Registration is required.
Introduction to Canva: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 18. Learn about, a graphic design website that is considered one of the best design tools for designers of all skill levels. Make posters, invitations, cards, logos, photo collages, certificates, bookmarks, website graphics and calendars. Registration is required.
Children’s programs
Children’s Storytime Registration: 10 a.m. Sept. 14. For all residents. Registration only available in person or by phone.
Baby Sing, Sign and Play: 10:30 to 11 a.m. Sept. 22. For ages 2 and younger with a caregiver. Use music, books and activities to promote preverbal communication with American Sign Language. Registration is required.
Kusudama Flowers: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sept. 23. Make origami Kusudama flowers with Linda Bowers. Kusudama is created by sewing multiple identical pyramidal units together from their points to form a spherical shape. Registration is required.
Introduction to Family History: 2:30 to 4 p.m. Sept. 24. Learn how to use to navigate family roots. Led by Larry Naukam, retired director of historical services at Rochester Public Library and current president of Rochester Genealogical Society. Registration is required.
