The Association of Rochester Police and Area Law Enforcement Retirees and Rochester Police Locust Club recently honored the memory of deceased law enforcement officers at Ridgemont Country Club in Greece.
Families and friends gathered to recognize and celebrate the lives of their lost loved ones. A photo slide show highlighted the officers’ lives.
Honored law enforcement officers this year included Detective Michael Chiello, Capt. Harold Connor, Sgt. Dominic Felice, Sgt. Robert Fisher, Officer Donald Freeman, Sgt. Robert Kerr, Deputy Hawley “Lee” Knitter, Lt. Carl Patricelli, Capt. George Reiss, Detective Louis Tacito, Officer Robert Turner, Officer Peter Walsh and Assistant Chief Deputy James Wiesner.
“This event honors the men and women who served our community, and also recognizes the sacrifices that their families made over the years,” said Joseph Cimino, president of ARPALER. “There is an everlasting connection we make with every officer and their families. It is a privilege to recognize them.”
Families received balloons to write messages to their lost loved ones that were then released into the heavens at the end of the luncheon program.
“We are fortunate in this profession, because in law enforcement we have two families,” said Michael Mazzeo, president of Rochester Police Locust Club. “Our own brothers and sisters in blue and their personal family members as well.”
