Tenor George DeMott will present a concert at 7 p.m. on Dec. 1 in the Penfield High School Auditorium, 25 High School Drive.
The concert, called “George Demott and Friends — Hope for the Holidays,” will feature various styles of music celebrating Christmas, Seasonal, Hanukkah, Italian and Broadway favorites. At the concert, DeMott will be debuting his first Holiday CD titled “Hope for the Holidays,” which will be available at the concert.
Joining DeMott onstage will be Diane Abrahamian on piano and Phil Broikos on guitar, as well as a few special guest vocalists. The show is to benefit the Robert DeMott Memorial Vocal Music Scholarship, which aids a Penfield High School senior who will be pursuing a career in vocal music. The concert is free and open to the public; however, donations will be accepted.
DeMott is a 1986 graduate of Penfield High School and a 1990 graduate of the Eastman School of Music. Additionally, he went on to receive a master’s degree from University of California Santa Barbara. Since then, he has performed with several opera companies across the country including Glimmerglass Opera, Virginia Opera, Illinois Opera, Lake George Opera and Orlando Opera.
Although he was born and raised in Rochester, DeMott spent 11 years based in Las Vegas where he put his talents to work performing at resorts, casinos and corporate venues. Currently, he makes his home in Charlotte, North Carolina, with his wife and daughter.
