A paroled sex offender is now back in custody after he broke free from his GPS ankle bracelet.

According to the New York State Department of Corrections, 66-year-old Ronald Cook broke free from his GPS ankle bracelet last week. Cook was convicted of first-degree rape after an incident near Binghamton in 1990 where he raped a 24-year old woman he did not know, according to the Department of Criminal Justice Services.

Cook was arrested Saturday afternoon in Binghamton. He is being held in the Broome County Jail for violating his parole.
