The Greater Rochester community is working together to give the gift of pride to parents as they gift their families this holiday season. The Furnished 4 Life Christmas Store at Wedge Market, 46 Mount Hope Ave., Rochester, is championing this effort.
The Christmas Store’s goal is to add personal selection and gifting pride to the annual holiday toy donation and distribution tradition.
Wedge Market will be transformed into the Furnished 4 Life Christmas Store. Its inventory will come from individuals, employees and members of area organizations and churches through donations of new and unwrapped toys; baby care items; infant and toddler clothing; books, DVDs and CDs; gift cards to Walmart, Target and movies; jewelry; perfume; and cosmetics.
Donations may be delivered to The Furnished 4 Life Thrift Store from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays and 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturdays through Dec. 2.
Residents who wish to give a financial donation to supplement the donated toys can make checks payable to Project URGE Inc. Write “Christmas Store” in the subject line.
With all of these donations, the South Wedge community and beyond will be invited and scheduled to come and shop. Scheduling will be confirmed with a free ticket. With the deep discount prices placed on each toy and gift, shoppers will be able to exercise personal selection, pay for the gift and leave the store with pride. While shopping, they will enjoy child care, coffee and a holiday treat. As they depart from the store, they will be carrying their gift selections, which are festively wrapped at the store.
In addition to donating, volunteer roles include donation pick-up, sorting, pricing, shelf stocking, customer service, gift wrapping and children supervision.
The Christmas Store will be open for business from 3 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 8 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 9. Call (585) 348-8596 or email for information.
Proceeds will support community service projects in Rochester’s South Wedge quadrant.
