Adult programs
Historical Fiction Book Discussion — “The Nightingale” by Kristin Hannah: 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 5 and 2 to 3 p.m. on Dec. 14. Copies available in multiple formats for month-long checkout. No registration required.
Drop-In Knitting Circle: 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays. Bring needlework and chat with others. Donations are being collected. Saint’s Place, a local charity that furnishes apartments for Rochester refugees, is accepting baby blankets, 36 inches by 46 inches; throws, 48 inches by 60 inches; winter hats and mittens for men; neck scarves for women, men and children. Knitted Knockers Roc! is needing soft knit prosthetics for breast cancer survivors. Free patterns can be downloaded at knittedknockers.org. Specific yarn must be use; Michael’s sells Patons Grace yarn, one of the approved yarns.
Teen Tech Tutors: 4 to 6 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. Come in during drop in hours to get help with technology questions. No registration required.
LawNY Healthcare Navigator — open enrollment for The New York State Health Care Marketplace: 1 to 5 p.m. on Dec. 8 and 14. Register for one-on-one assistance with enrolling for health insurance. Registrants must bring: Identification, the previous year’s tax return, four most recent pay stubs, immigration or naturalization papers if applicable and the Social Security numbers and birth dates of all family members. Registration for a one-hour appointment is required.
A Woman Presidential Candidate — In 1884 presented by Sally Roesch Wagner: 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 6. Belva Lockwood, 1884 presidential candidate, provides a lens through which to explore the ongoing creation of democracy in the country. This program is made possible through the support of the New York Council for the Humanities’ Public Scholars program. No registration required.
A Holiday Concert by The Roc City Ringers: 2 to 3 p.m. on Dec. 9. The Roc City Ringers are a handbell ensemble who perform a wide range of classical, contemporary and sacred music. No registration required.
