The town of Irondequoit will host a public meeting to discuss plans for a future community center at the former Irondequoit Mall at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 30 at the Irondequoit Public Library, 1290 Titus Ave.
Recently, the current owner of the former-mall — now SkyView on the Ridge — offered approximately 50,000-square feet to the town to be used as a community facility. Supervisor Dave Seeley has since announced a strategy to work with Irondequoit residents to help shape a potential buildout of the space in a manner that meets the needs of the town.
“I am thrilled at the prospect of moving forward with a community center than we’ve always envisioned for Irondequoit, but never seen come to fruition,” said Seeley. “This is one of the first steps in working to provide our residents with the amenities they deserve, and essential towards enhancing our quality of life.”
Feedback received at the public meetings will be used by the Community Center Advisory Committee and town staff to help shape a final blueprint in early 2018.
Residents will be asked to take part in facilitated sessions to help determine community needs and priorities. The meeting will be videotaped and available to view for those unable to attend, along with an opportunity to provide feedback.
