Kingfisher Theater will adapt “The Devil, the Witch and the Blacksmith,” a short story by Nikolai Gogol, at 8 p.m. on Jan. 3-7 and 9-13 at Multi-use Community Cultural Center, 142 Atlantic Ave., Rochester.
In the Ukrainian village of Dikanka, the Devil plots his revenge against Vakula, a blacksmith, by stealing the moon and unleashing a blinding snowstorm. The plot to ruin Vakula’s chances to win Oksana on Christmas Eve is complicated by Vakula’s mother — a witch — and Oksana’s wealthy father.
