Irish Children’s Program of Rochester will host informational meetings throughout January to discuss opportunities to host a child from Belfast, Northern Ireland, in July.
The Rochester meetings are at 7 p.m. on Jan. 18 at Irondequoit Public Library, 1290 Titus Ave.; Jan. 22 at Gates Public Library, 902 Elmgrove Road; and Jan. 31 at Henrietta Public Library, 455 Calkins Road.
Catholic and Protestant children ages 10-14 will experience shared activities and build understanding after growing up in an environment of suspicion and animosity. The children and their Rochester host families will participate in interactive activities that weave a fabric of peace and understanding.
