Children’s programs
Story times
Stories for Wee Ones: 10:15 to 1:45 a.m. on Mondays. For ages 24 months and younger.
PJ Storytime: 7 to 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 15, Feb. 5, 19, March 5 and 19. For all ages.
Stories and Songs for 2- to 5-year-olds. 10:15 to 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7 through March 28; and 1 to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.
Stories and Songs for All Ages: 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. on Thursdays.
Regular programs
Pokemon Club: 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Jan. 22, Feb. 26 and March 26. All ages, accompanied by an adult. Bring cards, smartphones and portable game consoles to share with and compete against fellow Pokemon fans. Learn how to play the card game and put together a strategic deck.
Preschool Dance Party: 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. on Feb. 13 and March 13. For ages 18 months and older. Sing and dance along to a half hour of tunes from the library’s music collection, old favorites and brand new songs alike.
Homeschool Hour: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 30, Feb. 27 and March 27. All ages. Homeschoolers can hang out at WPL with other homeschoolers. The library will have crafts, games, Lego and K’NEX.
Discovery Morning: 10:30 a.m. to noon on Jan. 16, Feb. 20 and March 20. For ages 3 and younger. The group will start the morning with parachute play, and then children and their caregivers are free to enjoy games and activities that encourage early literacy.
Thursday Night is Family Night: 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays. For all ages. Stop in any for a variety of activities the entire family will enjoy. Check the program calendar to see what the day’s activity will be.
Special programs
Preschool Drive-In: 10:30 a.m. to noon on Jan. 23. For ages 2-5. No licenses needed. The group will start off in the story room decorating box cars, and then take a drive over to the meeting room to watch a short movie. Participants can take the car home. Registration required, cars are limited.
Take Your Child to the Library Day: 10:30 a.m. to noon on Feb. 3. Celebrate the library with a morning of activities. Stop in for crafts, a special library scavenger hunt, picture book movies and snacks.
Rhyme Time: 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 6. The group will begin with a short nursery rhyme storytime and then create their own nursery rhyme books to take home.
Monster Making 101: 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Feb. 20. Using an assortment of provided recycled items, participants can make their own mischievous monster. Work individually or as a group. Families welcome.
Family Friday: 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Feb. 23. Visit the library after hours for a night of music, crafts, games and more. Registration is required.
Preschool Game Day: 10:30 a.m. to noon on March 6. Join for games with favorite book characters. Match the animals from Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, play a round of pin the green egg on the ham or feed the pigeon a hot dog.
Animal Sleepover!: 6:30 to 7 p.m. on March 7. Put on pajamas to join for bedtime stories and songs, then leave a stuffed animal for a night in the library. The stuffed animal will get to explore the library after hours, and participants will get to take home photo evidence of their late-night escapades the next day. After sleeping in, the stuffed animals will be ready for their parents to start picking them up at noon. Registration required.
Tween program
Tween Designs: 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 21. For grades four through seven. Bring ideas to the library and design own buttons and stickers in this hands-on workshop/
