Saint Kateri School, 445 Kings Highway S, Irondequoit, will hold a school walk through for those interested in the preschool and kindergarten from 9 to 11 a.m. on Jan. 29.
For preschoolers, Saint Kateri offers a two-day morning program and an all-day program on Tuesdays and Thursdays. For ages 4 and older, the school offers a combination of half days and full days. Before care and after care programs are also available, with some requirements.
Saint Kateri School currently instructs preschoolers through grade five. One of the few Catholic Schools in the area, every classroom has a New York State-certified teacher supported by teacher aides or resource teachers. Smaller size classes and individual attention allow each child to develop at his/her own pace.
“At Saint Kateri School, our faith and morals are infused into all curricular areas each day, and we welcome students of all faith backgrounds,” said Sister Kay Lurz. “For children of all ages, our value-based curriculum fosters deep roots of character and moral values and focuses on service to the greater community.”
The Rev. Paul English, pastor of the parish, noted that having a strong school within the parish strengthens parishioners and many of the students become lifelong parishioners.
“Our parish helps build community and personal relationship with Jesus Christ,” said English. “The students and congregation understand the value of Catholic education.”
