Competition begins Thursday for a local Olympian ahead of Friday's Opening Ceremony of the PyeongChang Olympics.

Pittsford's Morgan Schild is competing in preliminary rounds of freestyle skiing -- moguls. Her first runs are scheduled to air LIVE at 8 p.m. on NBC10NBC.

She learned to ski at Bristol Mountain.

News10NBC spoke with Schild about the excitement of being an Olympian.

"I definitely get goosebumps thinking about it," she said. "Every time I see red, white and blue, I'm just super-excited to have that opportunity to get there."

On Thursday night, Pittsford's Paige Connors takes the ice in pairs figure skating for the Israeli Olympic team.

She and her partner, Evgeni Krasnopolski, will perform their short program in the figure skating team event.

Schild's highlights will air in NBC primetime coverage on News10NBC starting at 8 p.m., while Conners' competition airs LIVE on NBC (beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time).
