Amadeus Chorale and Brockport Symphony Orchestra will join forces to present “Global Connections” at 7 p.m. on March 24 at Twelve Corners Presbyterian Church, 1200 S. Winton Road, Rochester.
Concert tickets are $10, and can be purchased online at brockportsymphony.org and at the door. Free parking is available. Attendees will enjoy a complimentary dessert reception after the performance.
Under the direction of Darla Bair and Jonathan Allentoff, this gala concert will highlight various masterpieces, dances and folk songs from across the globe. Rachel Roessel, the orchestra’s principal clarinet and an active musician in Greater Rochester, will be featured as soloist in Allentoff’s new setting of Antonin Dvorak’s hymn, “Goin’ Home.”
The program, which includes works by Elizabeth Alexander, Edward Elgar, Reinhold Gliere, Jim Papolulis, Giacomo Puccini and Donna Gartman Schultz, also showcases the talents of concertmaster Jaesun Han and collaborative pianist Sally Martin.
Both ensembles recently returned from performing concert tours.
Amadeus Chorale was invited to perform onstage at New York’s Radio City Music Hall in December 2017, where they opened for The Rockettes. The chorale also toured Philadelphia last summer, and appeared in a special TV broadcast.
This past fall, Brockport Symphony Orchestra presented two performances in celebration of the Erie Canal Bicentennial at Rochester Museum and Science Center’s Eisenhart Auditorium and Empire State Plaza’s Clark Auditorium at New York State Museum in Albany.
