The varsity boys and girls bowling teams from Greece Arcadia High School recently showed their bowling strength by winning the Section V Class B bowling titles.
It is the third time in school history that both teams won titles in the same year. The two teams have combined for 13 sectional titles overall.
The girls team shot out to an early lead by posting a 987 game, and was leading Class B by 91 pins going into the afternoon session. After game four, second-place Greece Athena had cut into their lead, now down to 43 pins. A big fifth game by the Titans of 906 pushed the lead back to 99 pins. Arcadia kept pace with Athena in game six to win by 90 pins.
In the morning, Arcadia was led by Hailey Tidwell with a 235 game and 592 series, Lizzy Anderson with a 573 series and Michelle Rapp with a 190 game. In the afternoon, Arcadia was carried by Sydney Kraft on games of 213 and 236 for a 619 series.
The Greece Arcadia boys varsity bowling team followed suit as they opened up with games of 1,012 and 1,034 for a 3,002 series and a 82-pin lead in Class B over Spencerport. In the afternoon session, the Titans continued with games of 986 and 972 to maintain its lead, winning by 212 pins.
In the morning, Arcadia was led by Owen King with games of 214, 235 and 268 for a 717 series and afternoon scores of 211, 234 and 201 for a 646 series. As a result, King earned all-tournament team honors and represented Section V at the state tournament in Syracuse.
Other performances included Brandon McPhee with a 614; Tyler Snedden with games of 221, 216 and 210; Nick DelVecchio with 190; and Michael Bennett with 204 and 206.
