Police shut down the bridge from Lakeshore Drive/ Muar Street to the Lakeshore/Route 364 intersection for most of the morning.
Lakeshore Drive was reopened before noon following an emergency response at Lagoon Park in the city. Canandaigua Police stated the response at 9:33 a.m. was for report of “a distraught individual who was threatening to harm them self.”
“The individual was located, and negotiators from the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office and the Canandaigua Police Department were able to speak with the individual, and ultimately were able take the individual safely into custody under mental health law. The individual was taken to a medical facility, for the purpose of providing them with the appropriate mental health services,” according to police.
Responding to the incident were: Canandaigua Police, Ontario County Sheriff’s Office and state police. Canandaigua Fire and Canandaigua EMS assisted at the scene. Police shut down the bridge from Lakeshore Drive/ Muar Street to the Lakeshore/Route 364 intersection for much of the morning.
