Digital Rochester is hosting a panel of local video game industry leaders to share how video games are a strong engine for economic growth in society.
Presented by DR’s Technology Leaders Special Interest Group, “Level Up: Get in the Game Rochester!” will take place at 5:30 p.m. on March 27 at the MAGIC Center at Rochester Institute of Technology, 1 Lomb Memorial Drive. Panelists will also share how the Rochester community is collaborating to develop and to keep expertise and talent here in Rochester.
Panelists will discuss key takeaways from the recent Game Developers Conference. Topics of discussion will include diversity, growth and collaboration of the game industry in Rochester, how individuals can learn and participate in the state challenge, new exhibits and inductees at the Strong National Museum of Play and Game Changers. Attendees will also have an opportunity to experience several games live.
The discussion will be facilitated by Jennifer Hinton, assistant director of the RIT Center for Media, Arts, Games, Interaction & Creativity.
Panelists are Jason Arena, CEO and president, Workinman Interactive; Colin Doody, president and co-founder, Darkwind Media Ltd.; Jon-Paul Dyson, director of the International Center for the History of Electronic Games and vice president for exhibits, Strong National Museum of Play; Robert Mostyn, founder, ROC game dev and digital games hub coordinator, RIT Center for Media, Arts, Games, Interaction & Creativity; and Victoria VanVoorhis, CEO, Second Avenue Learning.
The event will begin with a reception and demo experience at 5:30 p.m., followed by a panel discussion and Q&A at 6 p.m. Networking and additional demo experience will begin at 7 p.m. This event is sponsored by the MAGIC Center.
