The Hilton Central School District Winter Drumline brought home the first-place gold medal after winning the 2018 New York State Percussion Circuit Championship in Syracuse.
In addition to the first place-award, the 21-member ensemble won the awards for best music, best visual and high score (large school — percussion scholastic A).
Hilton started the weekend by competing in the percussion event in Welland, Ontario, Canada. There, Hilton placed first in the PSA competition and Drumline Throwdown — a tournament bracket face-off competition.
The 2018 NYSPC gold medal represents the 16th state percussion title for Hilton, the first since 2014. The ensemble, directed by HCSD faculty member Tim Stodd, includes students in grades 7-12.
