On Friday the second level will close to all traffic. That in addition to the temporary closure of the lower level, outer roadway traffic lane which closed last October. So all cars will use one terminal roadway for both departures and arrivals for the next six months until construction is complete.
When the Greater Rochester International Airport project is complete in October you won't have to worry about getting wet when you walk from the parking garage to the airport. That means, however, some inconvenience over the next six months.
"It's almost easier when you come here a lot, you get picked up in the same places, you have your basics down," Patricia Leunis of Switzerland said.
Leunis is a regular at the airport in Rochester. This native of Switzerland comes regularly to visit her daughter a student at the Eastman School of Music. She is familiar with the airport layout and knows just where to go. But come Friday that all changes.
"Nowadays travel I think you have to plan ahead so I think its going to be a good thing but transition time," said Leunis.

A frequent flier, Joseph Aguioa explained, "I definitely have to take that into account especially once iI get off the flight coming in. I have to allocate that time in order to get through."
Aguioa who travels in and out of Rochester for business isn't looking forward to the change. He says every minute counts when he's trying to make business appointments. It's going to mean, "a lot more planning in general overall with everything you have to do. It’s a little bit more inconvenient. Back in the day, it was a lot easier for us. Now there’s a lot of hoops we have to go through," he said.
You will still be able to check in your luggage on the lower level, and you'll be able to catch ride-sharing, cabs and hotel shuttles on the lower level arrivals road.
The canopy is scheduled to be completed in October.
