Rene Pettenski, of MVP Health Care, recently discussed Medicare and health insurance options for senior citizens at a Victor-Farmington Rotary Club meeting. The presentation covered transitions individuals must make in their coverage after they reach age 65 and are eligible for Medicare coverage. Pettenski explained the basic decisions that individuals must make concerning their insurance coverage and the programs offered by her company to help seniors transition into coverage that best suits their needs after they are Medicare-eligible. Pettenski discussed prescription drugs and dental coverages, enrollment periods, Medicare Advantage plans and medical savings accounts. Club members were updated on the District 7120 Rotary Foundation’s recent brunch at Ventosa Vineyards in Geneva, which was attended by several club officers. There are 71 Rotary clubs in Rotary District 7120, which covers the Greater Rochester/Finger Lakes region. Special recognition awards went to individual clubs for their financial support for the Rotary Foundation. Victor-Farmington Rotary was recognized for its average contribution of $250 per member in 2017. This was the third highest per capita donation in the district. The club recently finalized its plans to support local law enforcement agencies during the weeks leading up to National Police Week in May. Its May 2 meeting will feature a program by Sgt. Mike Rago, of Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, about active shooter situations. The May 9 meeting will explore forensic investigative techniques and applications with Investigator Jason Field, of New York State Police Troop E in Farmington. Victor-Farmington Rotary will host its annual Police Appreciation Dinner on May 16 at Finn’s Tap Room and Party House, 14 Railroad St., Victor. Tickets cost $25. Community service awards will go to OCSO Deputy Zdenek Chumacero, who serves as school resource officer for Victor Central School District, and NYSP Senior Investigator Chris Baldwin, who supervises the activities of Bureau of Criminal Investigation personnel assigned to Ontario County. The club will present a special community service award to Sheriff Phil Povero, who will retire at the end of 2018. Dinner reservations are required by May 11.
