We are all connected, and our relationships to one another give us strength, joy, and a shared identity. 2018 marks the 33rd year of the Greece Regional Chamber’s annual Community Awards Gala, a celebration of a very broad range of people and organizations whose excellence and generosity have contributed significantly to our connected sense of time and place.
This year, we are recognizing a truly exceptional group of honorees.
Exceptional individuals are Sharon Quataert, of Sharon Quataert Realty, as Business Person of the Year; Shirley Munson, of Greece Ecumenical Food Shelf, as Girlie Goodwin Citizen of the Year; retired Lt. Chris Bennett, of Barnard Fire Department, as First Responder of the Year; State Sen. Joe Robach, R-56th District, with the Thomas E. Schommer Spirit of the Chamber Award; Barbara Cuthbert, of Northwest AARP, as William E. Selke Senior Citizen of the Year; and Letty Laskowski, of Harris, Chesworth, Johnstone & Welch LLP, as Young Professional of the Year.
The in memoriam Special Memorial Lifetime Achievement awards will go to Eileen Coyle, of Monroe Ambulance, and Daniel Richardson, of Braddock Bay Tavern & Grill.
Outstanding individuals, organizations or projects include James Montanus, of Montanus Photography, with the Arts & Culture Award; RE/MAX Plus and Ruby Gordon Home with building awards for transformation of existing space; Kathleen Graupman, superintendent of Greece Central School District, with the Education Award; Eagle Scouts and the Eagle Scout program at Seneca Waterways Council with the Environment Award; Episcopal SeniorLife Communities with the Health Award; and William Sauers, of Greece Historical Society and Museum, with the History Award.
