“The Rochester Subway,” a presentation of images from the archives at New York Museum of Transportation, 6393 E. River Road, West Henrietta, will explore the system’s 30-year transformation from an abandoned canal bed to an abandoned transit line at 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. on May 20.
The show covers the subway’s construction, operation and decline. Area residents and history enthusiasts will view new images that describe Rochester’s brief flirtation with rapid transit.
Since the museum’s trolley operations are on hold while storm-related damage is repaired, a program of mini-events is scheduled for each Sunday. The events are free with specially reduced admission prices during this period.
New York Museum of Transportation is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Group tours
during the week can be arranged by appointment. Call (585) 533-1113, email info@nymtmuseum.org or visit nymtmuseum.org for information.
