A man has been charged with second-degree murder after he fatally stabbed his girlfriend in his vehicle along Buffalo Road in Gates.

Gates Police say 54-year-old Roger Lee Wiggins stabbed 51-year-old Tracy Henton-Williams in the chest and neck with a knife while she was in the passenger seat of his Jeep Liberty. After she was stabbed, Henton-Williams fell from the moving vehicle.

Wiggins was taken into custody at the Canadian border.

Witnesses from nearby businesses tried to help Henton-Williams.

"You could just kind of see her fading away," witness Lara Hargrove-Wise said. "It was… I knew in my heart that she probably wasn't going to make it."

"When we realized that she had been stabbed, all I could think was, 'I can't believe a human being could do this to another human being.' I just don't understand how somebody could do this," witness Michelle Hargrove-Wise said.

Wiggins is due back in court on Friday.
