According to the National Weather Service, heat is one of the leaders in weather-related deaths in the United States, resulting in hundreds of fatalities each year and even more heat-related illnesses.

The Canandaigua Fire Departments recommends taking the necessary precautions to avoid potential heat-related illness including drinking plenty of water, eating light meals and minimizing direct exposure to the sun among other helpful tips.
