Spry took two teams to the Washington, D.C., regional in Alexandria. In the preliminary rounds, the Warriors’ A team went 5-1, earning them a playoff spot. Andrew Geiser, a Webster Schroeder ninth grader; and Spry eighth-graders Diego Del Toro, Kaden Murphy and Sean Stark finished third overall, losing to the previous year’s champion.
The Spry B team also did well for their first time at such an event, finishing 3-3 in the preliminary rounds. This squad was comprised of seventh-graders John Fedkew, Russell Guelli and David Young; and sixth-grader Angel Asare.
