People close to a woman murdered in Rochester are trying to support education in her memory.

Sunday afternoon friends and relatives filled the Skylark Lounge on Union Street to celebrate the life of 31-year-old Kelly O'May and hold a benefit in her honor.

She was found stabbed to death in an apartment on Caroline Street two weeks ago.

Her boyfriend, 32-year-old Robert Norry has been arrested on murder charges.

Loved ones say the proceeds from a GoFundMe page and the benefit events they've held will go towards a scholarship in her name, that would go to a student at Avon High School.

"Tonight is about Kelly and just helping her parents with her legacy," said Erica Bochetto, the event organizer.

After a nationwide search Norry was arrested in Washington state.

Right now police are working to bring Norry back to western New York.
