Fire departments from three counties responded to the Stumblin' Inn in Elba Sunday morning.

A fire broke out inside the old-fashioned bar on Rte. 98 around 10 a.m., spreading quickly to the entryway. Flames and heavy smoke were seen pouring out of the windows. It took fire crews several hours to get the flames under control.

The owners, Jim and Steve Goff, were able to get out safely and said they will stay with friends.

The building sustained extensive damage and was knocked down Sunday afternoon.
