They argued that it did not preserve the historic integrity of the building.

The Fairport Village Board denied an appeal for the Fairport Brewery Company's expansion Monday night.

Members voted Monday night on the plans after the Fairport Village Historic Preservation Committee rejected the brewery's expansion plans for more indoor space and a balcony back in April.

They argued that it did not preserve the historic integrity of the building.

However, on Monday night history repeated itself.

"They determined that the addition and site work would change the character of the historic structure and the existing building would no longer be the dominant feature," stated Kevin Clark, Fairport mayor. "It would overwhelm the addition. And I concur with the assessment."

Board members said they would like to work with the brewery to revise the decision.
