Greece Rotary Club invites area residents and businesses to join them in promoting reading in the community.
While supplies last, Greece Rotary will provide a premade bookhouse to those interested in becoming a Little Free Library steward.
Bookhouses are handcrafted structures filled with donated books to share with neighbors of all ages. The libraries typically are placed in easily accessible locations, front yards, parks or gardens. Users are encouraged to take a book and replace a book.
Little Free Library is a nonprofit organization that aims to inspire a love of reading, build community and spark creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges around the world.
More than a dozen Little Free Library bookhouses will be distributed throughout the town. The steward is responsible for painting, installing and maintaining the library for a minimum of three years. All libraries will be registered with the Little Free Library worldwide organization at Greece Rotary’s expense. Visit littlefreelibrary.org for information.
Interested residents can submit an application for Greece stewardship through Sept. 30. Send completed applications to greecerotarylfl@gmail.com or Greece Rotary Club, P.O. Box 16106, Rochester, New York, 14616.
