A man accuses Rochester police of brutality back in May.

The United Christian Leadership Ministry says that Christopher Pate was approached by officers at Fulton Avenue and Bloss Street.

The church group says that after Pate delayed to hand over his ID, officers hit him causing broken bones in his face.

"We can no longer stand to deal with these egregious actions being committed against citizens," Rev. Cornell Stewart explained.

"As soon as we became aware of the allegations, the chief directed the personal standards section to authorize an internal investigation," added Deputy Chief Laron Singletary.

Pate's attorney intends to sue the police department, but he would not allow his client to speak Thursday.
