Volunteers, case managers and over 800 individuals and families recently braved a rainstorm to join Feed the Children, PepsiCo Inc. and Tops Friendly Markets for #ROC in Rochester.
Volunteers provided food to supplement meals for a week and other supplies help 800 Rochester families.
PepsiCo and Feed the Children partnered with Catholic Family Center for a fourth year to help feed families in Rochester, where more than 38 percent of the population lives below the poverty line. This event is part of a larger initiative to help feed communities in over 19 cities throughout the U.S.
Joining them at Eastman Business Park were volunteers from Excellus BCBS and SwiftLift Inc., a local business that provides forklift equipment and related safety and transportation services.
The receiving families were identified and selected by Catholic Family Center, a Rochester nonprofit that helps elevate the local community by enabling independence, empowering the vulnerable and strengthening individuals and families.
“Catholic Family Center is grateful to be working once again with PepsiCo, Feed the Children and our neighbors at Tops Markets,” said Marlene Bessette, CEO. “Together, these partners are truly providing vital nourishment for both body and mind to some of our city’s most vulnerable families and children.”
