Rochester Area Community Foundation honored Randy and Marion Henderson, of Webster, with a 2018 Philanthropy Award at its annual Report to the Community Luncheon on Sept. 20.
Randy, a well-known Ford dealer, and his wife are being recognized for their generosity in giving back to their community through the dealership, their volunteer service and support they provide through the Henderson Family Legacy Fund at the Community Foundation to address education issues and those affecting families and the elderly.
The Hendersons focus their giving on youth and faith-based programs. Through the dealership, they have provided incentives, including a car, to diligent and motivated
graduating seniors from several different schools each year.
Randy and Marion collaborate with other businesses to collect new and gently used books for students in the Rochester City School District and then send a caravan of Fords to deliver them. They started a Partner Program with local churches and nonprofits where the dealership makes a donation back to those entities when their members or employees do business with them. The Hendersons also set up an endowed scholarship to support a business student attending Roberts Wesleyan College.
Randy and Marion were early members of the foundation’s African-American Giving Initiative. Both are active with their church and in the community, volunteering and serving on boards.
