A Monroe County deputy is credited with saving the life of a three-month-old baby.

Tuesday night, Court Deputy Kelly Cook was honored during the Monroe County Legislature meeting. Late last month, the baby stopped breathing at the Hall of Justice.

Deputy Cook performed rescue breaths until the baby was breathing on her own. She was then taken to Rochester General Hospital.

Cook says it was really a team effort.

"It was overwhelming," Cook exclaimed. "Everything just happened and I did what I was trained to do and my coworkers did everything I forgot and we did it together."

Deputy James Walker assisted Cook in providing oxygen to the baby.
