A common sense, taxpayer benefiting and bipartisan agreement I had heard had been reached recently by Fairport village and the town of Perinton has recently fallen part due to the intervention of the Monroe County Republican chairman. The town and village had agreed to consolidate the village justice responsibilities into the Perinton Town Court system at no additional cost to town taxpayers and a net tax savings to village taxpayers.
However, because the village justice position is presently held by a Republican, the Republican Party Chairman allegedly indicated that he would not support other village Republicans in the upcoming elections if a Republican seat was going to be eliminated in his county. The agreement is now off the table and the village has to rework its 2019 budget to maintain the village justice position. So it appears as if the Greece town supervisor who is also the Republican County chairman is running things in the village of Fairport and the town of Perinton to the detriment of its citizens and taxpayers.
