The Brockport Symphony Orchestra and Temple Beth El Orchestra will present “From Broadway to Hollywood … and Back!” at 3 p.m. on Nov. 4 in the Auditorium at Temple Beth El, 139 S. Winton Road, Rochester.
Directed by Jonathan Allentoff, this family concert will feature NPR/WXXI Classical 91.5 host Michael Lasser, vocalist Mary Wojciechowski, clarinet soloist Rachel Roessel and concertmaster Jaesun Han.
The program, created in collaboration with Lasser, will include instrumental and vocal selections from “The Music Man,” “The Wizard of Oz,” “Carousel,” “Chicago,” “Girl Crazy,” “Good News,” “Hallelujah, Baby!” and “Carnival” in new arrangements by Allentoff.
Lasser, host of the nationally syndicated public radio show “Fascinatin’ Rhythm,” will narrate the concert and share his musical insights as a Peabody Award-winning broadcaster, author and professor.
Admission and parking are free. Donations will be accepted at the door. A complimentary dessert reception will follow the performance, sponsored by the Men’s Club of Temple Beth El.
