The McQuaid Jesuit First Robotics Competition team, The IgKnighters, were members of the alliance that won the Rochester Ruckus on Oct. 27 at the Rochester Main Street Armory.
Forty teams from New York, Pennsylvania and Ontario, Canada, competed in the event. This is the second time in three years that the IgKnighters were members of the winning alliance.
This October, the IgKnighters’ rebuilt their robot in three weeks to execute a refined strategy. The result was a machine that was the competition’s best performing robot for two of the four challenges — the vault and the switch.
The IgKnighters are supported by corporate sponsors Delphi, Xerox and Xylem in addition to McQuaid Jesuit and anonymous individuals. The IgKnighters are coached by McQuaid parents and alumni who are experts in their technical, programming and business fields.
