Chris Bray, a full-time traveling worship leader and speaker, will make his first appearance in Rochester at Our Mother of Sorrows Church, 5000 Mount Read Blvd., for a three-day Advent Mission in early December.
Each of three missions focuses on “Parish Renewal and the Blessed Sacrament,” and is designed for people of all ages.
Bray will attend Mass at 4 p.m. on Dec. 1, and 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Dec. 2. At night, he will speak at the OMOS Advent Missions to offer prayerful music and talks.
His talk at 7 p.m. on Dec. 1, “Encounter,” will recognize people’s need for God and a longing for something more. “Eucharist” at 7 p.m. on Dec. 2 will cover how Jesus is the source and summit of his followers’ lives. Finally, Bray will discuss how Christians are called to share the faith with others at 7 p.m. on Dec. 3 with “Evangelization.”
“We are so excited to host Chris Bray at our parish,” said William Coffas, pastor of Our Mother of Sorrows. “Chris is a dynamic Catholic evangelist who combines faith, humor and music in his presentations. Our Advent Mission is an opportunity for youth and adults to grow in faith, and all are welcome.”
Bray has released five albums as a recording artist, the most recent in 2017 titled “Joy in my Heart.” His albums feature Top 10 and No. 1 hit songs that aired on Christian radio across Canada. His songwriting recounts real life stories and circumstances, and ranges from soft duets to pop rock.
“Advent is a wonderful time to renew our faith in Christ,” Coffas said. “It is the prayer of our parish that this Advent Mission with Chris Bray will deepen our faith in God who came to save us.”
Lighted parking is available. The church will host a free pizza dinner at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 2; reservations are required. Call (585) 663-5432 for information.
