North Chili resident joins Summit FCU

Danielle Alexander, of North Chili, recently joined the Summit Federal Credit Union as an internal auditor.

Alexander previously worked at The Bonadio Group as a senior bank internal auditor. She has seven years of experience in the field.

 

Wheatland-Chili teacher receives Golden Apple Award

Megan Melville, an art teacher at Wheatland-Chili Middle School/High School, recently received the Golden Apple Award for excellence in teaching from WROC-TV.

Melville was nominated by student Madison Baird, who said in her nomination she is “kind and caring, and teaching isn’t a job for her.”

Melville has taught at Wheatland-Chili Central School District for seven years. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography and painting from Alfred University, and holds a master’s degree in art education from Nazareth College.

 

Hilton student selected for Hochstein youth orchestra

William Spear, a seventh-grader at Merton Williams Middle School in Hilton, was selected to participate in the 2018-19 Hochstein Youth Symphony Orchestra at The Hochstein School.

Spear plays trumpet, and is in the seventh-grade band and ensemble. Students annually compete for a seat in the orchestra that performs professional repertoire in at least four concerts throughout the school year.

Since 2000, the HYSO has performed in Austria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland. This year’s orchestra is comprised of students from 24 schools.
