Winter weather has arrived. A lot of snow came down overnight. In some places, folks are seeing over a foot. The average in Canandaigua is about 14". Most schools were closed in the area and deputies urge caution on the roads.
Ontario and Yates County sheriffs offices have issued a "No Unnecessary Traffic" advisory effective immediately and lasting until further notice.
The advisory means that hazardous conditions exist and unnecessary driving is not recommended. The restriction is not mandatory; motorists must use their own judgment to determine whether it's safe to drive. If it is essential to drive, the sheriff's office urges that you do so with caution.
Wayne County advisory was lifted at 6 a.m. but caution is advised. Livingston County was lifted at 8:30 a.m.
A winter storm warning from the National Weather Service remains in effect for Ontario and Yates counties until further notice.
