Perinton resident Wayne Pickering was approved by the Perinton Town Board on Nov. 14 to be the new town of Perinton assessor.
Pickering takes over for Nick Morabito, who died July 31.
Pickering, who was recently awarded the Robert Osios Professionalism Award by the New York State Assessors Association, has been the town assessor in Victor since 2002.
“I’m all for transparency in government and I’m always willing to talk to citizens about their assessment,” said Pickering, who starts in Perinton on Dec. 3. “I like to always be available for informal assessment reviews. I’m also interested in helping residents get all the exemptions they have coming to them.”
Before working in Victor, Pickering was town assessor in Mendon from 1989 to 2002 and worked in Brighton from 1980 to 1989.
