Four Wheatland-Chili students and one School of the Holy Childhood sixth-grader recently competed at the For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology Lego League regional qualifiers at Spencerport Central School District.
The FIRST Lego League team — Marena DeBruyne, Carissa Kiester, Abby Lange, Bridgette Lange and Abbie Wiesmore — won the award for highest robot score with a match score of 155 and the third highest score with a match score of 123.
The Hippie Pandas won the Chairman’s Award as the team with the highest combination of all three attributes of the FIRST Lego League competition: core values, project and robot design. This is the highest award a team can win.
This team, coached by Cheryl Lawniczak and mentored by Churchville-Chili sophomore Jaeda Ward, qualified for the regional championship.
